Kids’ Fashion is Focused on Comfort, Layers, Patterns, and Pops of Color

Kids’ fashion is our favorite subject at the Kidpik design studio in New York City.

If you think that international runways serve as inspiration for kids’ fashion, you’d be right.

There’s a reason why the term mini fashionista is popular!

What’s key to great kids’ fashion is that it has to be the perfect combination of age appropriate fit and meet the needs of a growing child’s lifestyle.

Super comfy, easy to shop, mix-n-match, and the bonus of free styling make Kidpik the star of the show.

Kids want styles that are comfortable and say something about their personality.

This is true for even little ones, as many parents have discovered. Parents want styles that look great, will survive the playground, and are a great value.

How to put together looks that are fashionable and functional? Below are a few hacks for looking on trend.

  • undefinedCozy and Comfortable – Parents know that over the past two years they have gravitated towards styles that were low on fuss and high on comfort. International runways are showing off looks that are more relaxed.

The same is true for kids, with the exception that comfort is a must-have feature that’s always been top of mind for the young and stylish set. We’re talking about go to fashion favorites that feature stretch fabrics, soft knits, easy to wear waist bands, and small details that make a big comfort difference.

  • Layered Looks – Fall is here and depending on where you live that can mean cool mornings and warmer afternoons.

That’s where a layered look comes in for fashion and function. Layering can be done with fun graphic tees and a button-down plaid shirt. It’s also a great to wear a chunky sweater and a solid tee under in a contrasting color.

One of our favorite layering pieces that never goes out of style and is great for year-round wear is a denim jacket. Kidpik has a selection for girls and boys in a range of colors. It’s hard to pick just one!

  • The Power of Patterns – Although a child’s wardrobe will change constantly as they grow, if you want to make sure they are always fashionably dressed, make sure you add items with patterns to the mix.

Mix plaid with graphic tees, as mentioned earlier. Ditzy floral prints can be paired with a solid. Stripes are a great look with rugby shirts being especially popular.

  • Pops of Color – No matter the season, embrace your child’s love of color.

It’s not just for their box of crayons!

This season we are loving bold hues that embrace a fall sensibility like sun-dried tomato red, koi orange, raspberry radiance, and citrus yellow.
